Cory James returns to the Dusk Notes label with The Narrows EP. This is the New York based producer’s first solo showcase on the cofounder’s own imprint. The four track EP reveals his latest body of work inspired by his recent move to a waterfront neighborhood, a fluid and stirring selection.
Side A begins with “Standby,” driven by hypnotic melodies and entrancing energy. “Junkions” is an upbeat stepper that expresses today’s constant state of flux, urban chaos, and obsession with racing against time.
Side B starts with “Caterpillar,” a swarm of low end sub momentum, and percussion that builds into a deconstructed take on 80s electro funk. “The Narrows” is led by a synthesized tension and animated percussion, a playful suspense.
