Archivist returns to secondnature for his first release on the label since 2017’s Star in a Circle. Cinder Cone EP includes three fiery originals and a remix from Patrick Russell. The record moves from the jagged percussion and train-whistle chords of “Palenque” through the twisted brain dance of the 808 cowbells on “Death Mask” and concludes on a hypnotic note with the two versions of “Cinder Cone”. Patrick Russell’s remix re-imagines the warping drones of the original with a stepping 170 BPM drum n bass crossover version. The record is a diverse but cohesive club weapon in the hands of the right DJ.
